The Hatch Chile Association
The mark of real Hatch chile.
Every grower and processor bearing our seal has been independently verified to source chile grown in the Hatch Valley of New Mexico — not just labeled that way.
What the Certified Hatch seal means
- Origin verified. Chile must be grown within the recognized Hatch Valley growing region. We check sourcing documentation — not just labels.
- Annual accountability. Certification is renewed each season. Producers must demonstrate continued compliance, not just earn a one-time badge.
- A promise to consumers. When you see our seal, you can trust you're buying the real thing — not "Hatch-style" chile from another state or country.
Why it matters
"Hatch chile" is one of the most mislabeled foods in the American market. Products from California, Colorado, and even overseas are routinely sold under the Hatch name with no connection to the Hatch Valley. Growers who work that land — and the families who depend on it — are undercut by the confusion.
The Hatch Chile Association exists to change that. Our certification program gives honest producers a way to prove their origins, and gives buyers a reliable signal they can act on.
